The Office of the State Secretary for Tourism is the government agency promoting the development of Spanish travel products and improvement in the travel offer of Spanish tourist destinations. Working with Spanish and international organisations in the private sector, it implements a quality policy for the tourism industry. Through the independent agency Turespaña and the network of Spanish Tourist Offices abroad, it promotes Spain as an international travel destination.

Technology and tourism

The Office of the State Secretary for Tourism encourages innovation through the use of new technologies. The Government Agency for the Management of Innovation and Technology in Tourism carries out numerous projects for entrepreneurs in the tourism industry.

It also takes measures to encourage internationalisation, sponsoring firms in their search for new markets and exporting their know-how along with travel products and services.

The Integrated National Tourism Plan includes specific measures to design a framework for the holiday travel industry to validate and maintain its leadership at the global level.
