Joaquín M. de Arístegui Laborde was appointed today Director-General of the Office of the Secretary of State for España Global. In 2014, the Spanish diplomat was Project Manager in the previous project, Marca España.

Mr Arístegui Laborde (Madrid, 1966) holds a law degree from the Autonomous University of Madrid, joining the Spanish diplomatic service in 1992. He served in Romania, the Netherlands, El Salvador, Thailand, and Switzerland. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, in Madrid, he was Deputy Director General for Continental Asia and Deputy Director General for Bilateral Economic Relations with Developing Countries.

He was Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and other world organisations headquartered in Geneva (when he also was Secretary General of Fundación Onuart), and Ambassador of Spain to Trinidad & Tobago (accredited to six other Eastern Caribbean States and the Caribbean Community/CARICOM).

From August 2014 to August 2018, he was Consul General of Spain in Beijing (People’s Republic of China) and was appointed Consul General of Spain in Lyon (France) in September this year.
